As a Sytems Engineer at RCG, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the seamless operation and security of our clients’ IT environments. With a focus on technical excellence and client satisfaction, you will lead in supporting client desktops and servers, maintaining and configuring networking hardware, and troubleshooting complex technical issues. Your proactive approach to incident resolution and detail-oriented documentation practices will alleviate the stress of IT from our clients’ lives, ensuring prompt resolution of issues when they arise.

Please note that this position is based in our Moline, IL headquarters and is not a remote worker position.

Responsibilities:
• Own the support for client desktops and servers, including installing and maintaining line-of-business and productivity applications.
• Take charge of configuring and managing networking hardware from industry-leading vendors, including firewalls, switches, and routers.
• Navigate complex technical issues with finesse, engaging effectively with end-users to resolve challenges quickly and efficiently.
• Employ a strategic approach to incident resolution, leveraging thorough analysis, client input, and team collaboration to determine optimal courses of action.
• Ensure thorough documentation of incident troubleshooting steps and resolutions through our ticketing system, fostering transparency and accountability.
• Drive system enhancements by recommending and implementing software and hardware updates to enhance performance and security.
• Serve as a primary technical expert, providing guidance and mentorship to other engineers and team members.
• Uphold the highest standards of technical documentation, meticulously maintaining network diagrams, system configurations, and standard operating procedures.
• Foster collaborative relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders, facilitating smooth installations, upgrades, and issue resolution.
• Play a key role in refining internal processes and best practices, elevating the efficiency and quality of our service delivery.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, championing innovative solutions and improvements for our clients’ IT environments.

Position Qualifications:
• 5+ years of system administration experience required, demonstrating a deep understanding of technical systems and infrastructure.
• Extensive knowledge of current Windows operating systems, with a proven track record of managing and optimizing system performance.
• Experience managing, configuring, and troubleshooting switches and firewalls, ensuring robust network security.
• Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies, particularly Hyper-V, for efficient resource utilization and scalability.
• Expertise in Microsoft server-related administration, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
• Proficient in the administration of Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, Entra, Teams, and SharePoint, to facilitate efficient communication and collaboration.
• Highly organized individual capable of managing multiple tasks under pressure, ensuring timely and effective resolution of technical issues.
• Strong oral communication, interpersonal skills, and technical writing abilities, with a commitment to documenting all work performed to maintain clarity and transparency.
• Preferred certification including Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) or higher.
• Academic training or a degree in a relevant field is a plus.
